October 2007 Minutes

  • The meeting was attended by William Floyd, Amber Bland, Ingrid Talwin, Lisa McAfee, Jennifer Felkel, Zach Ross, and Judy Gallagher

Old Business

  • Amber Bland reported on the prices/styles of solar lighting for the dock area. The board approved $400 for this project. This project was approved based on need for more illumination in the dock and ramp area for boaters and for increased security and deterrence of loitering.
  • William Floyd discussed news concerning the new subdivision being built on Catawba Trail. The builders will soon have a plat of record which will include prices for lots that adjoin Secret Cove. The structures will be upscale in design, similar to our neighborhood.

Committee Reports

Architectural Review – not represented

  • President reported they were looking into one instance of a satellite dish in yard

Boat Storage – not represented

  • President reported that the storage area project ran into some permit/adjoining land issues - Board agreed the HMA has three options - 1. meet with landowner, if the landowner agrees to allow continued building then seek proper permits - 2. scale back original plans toward property along Yachting and only widen the area toward Daylily - 3. go to the county and plead rezoning

Treasurer- Ingrid Talwin reported

  • Balance as of this date is $33,700 Estimated end of year balance $27,000 -2 homes are delinquent on dues
  • Issue re: dues with the lot for sale on Secret Cove Drive, Board agreed that payment of dues is expected and it will work with landowner for a payment plan

Social Committee – Jennifer Felkel reported

  • “Vegas Night was held at the Mackie home and everyone had a great time and won/lost lots of money! The Fall Festival was held on our field. There was a moonbounce and snacks. Lots of neighbors with kids attended and it was a very fun afternoon!
  • The committee has delivered several welcome baskets to our new neighbors. Upcoming events in December are: Progressive dinner, Caroling in neighborhood, Ladies Christmas Party

Landscaping – Zach Ross reported

  • Bob Friarson is working on plans for replanting islands in the spring Discussed value of time and cost of year round maintenance, agreed to continue with current crewL Light bulbs need to be replaced in some of the islands, will be taken care of - Electricity not working at field, will be taken care of Kudos to Mrs. Talwin and Mrs. Ross for the nice flowers planted on the right side of Secret Cove

Amenities Committee

  • This committee will look at any proposed recreation plans for our neighborhood
  • Chaired by Amber Bland, members are: Dana Higgins, Stan McAfee , Brent Mackie, Joe Kintzler and Dan Gallagher

Crime Watch – Judy Gallagher reported

  • President reported a dog bite that took place in neighborhood. This has resulted in legal action. There was one break-in to automobile over Labor Day weekend.

New Business

  • Amenities Committee formed

    Discussion for tasteful, temporary/as needed sign posts for entrances, Lisa McAfee to report to President and Social Committee with information on materials, cost, design
